Website refresh

A website refresh, inside the plan you already pay for.

New homepage layout, cleaner sections, better photos and copy, mobile fixes and speed. Rework within your existing brand, done on staging, approved by you, then live. Not a redesign from scratch, and no new branding.

Your brandSame name, logo, colours and voice

Same brand, same pages, same addresses. A refresh clears the clutter, puts one message at the top, and makes the page quick on a phone.

What a refresh is

Rework within your brand. Not a new site.

Most sites do not need to start over. They need the homepage to say one clear thing, the sections to breathe, the photos to be sharp and the whole thing to load fast on a phone.

A refresh keeps your name, logo, colours, fonts, pages and addresses. What changes is how it is laid out and how fast it loads. If your site needs more than that, we say so and quote it separately.

A refresh is
  • A new homepage layout using your existing content
  • Cleaner, better-spaced sections on key pages
  • Better photos and tighter copy
  • Mobile layout fixes
A refresh is not
  • A new site structure or sitemap
  • A new logo, colours or brand voice
  • New features, stores or booking systems
  • Copywriting from a blank page
How it uses your hours

Your plan's development time pays for it.

Every plan above WP Shield includes development hours each month. A refresh is what most people spend them on. Unused hours do not pile up, so a steady refresh month by month is the best use of them.

1 h

WP Boost, $199 a month

One hour a month. Enough for one meaningful change at a time: a new hero section, a reworked services block, or sharper photos and copy on a single page. Over a quarter that adds up to a visibly different homepage.

3 h

WP Pro, $349 a month

Three hours a month. A homepage refresh in a month or two, then a key page each month after. Your dedicated point of contact plans the order with you so the most-visited pages come first.

8 h

WP Scale, $599 a month

Eight hours a month. A full homepage refresh in the first month, the rest of your main pages across the next two, with strategy calls to decide what each page is for before we touch it.

Bigger refreshes are quoted at $150 an hour, with an estimate first

If you want the whole refresh done at once rather than spread over your monthly hours, we scope it, send you an estimate in hours in your dashboard, and start only when you approve it. Your plan's hours are used first, and anything past them is billed at $150 an hour. No surprise invoices: if the work looks like it will run past the estimate, we stop and tell you before it does.

What a typical refresh covers

Before and after, item by item.

Every site is different, but a first refresh almost always touches these.

AreaBeforeAfter
Homepage topA slider, three competing messages, no clear next stepOne headline, one line under it, one button, one photo
SectionsEverything the same size, crowded, no breathing roomFewer sections, more space, a clear order from top to bottom
PhotosStretched, blurry or stock images that could be anyone'sYour own photos, cropped and sized properly, or well-chosen licensed ones
CopyLong paragraphs about the companyShort lines about what you do for the reader, in your words
PhonesText too small, buttons off screen, menu that does not openReadable, tappable, a menu that works, tested on a real phone
SpeedSeveral seconds to load, large images, scripts from old pluginsImages resized, unused scripts removed, caching tuned, under two seconds on the pages that matter
ContactA phone number hidden in the footer, a form nobody testsPhone and form within reach on every page, form tested and arriving
TrustClaims with nothing behind themSpecific facts about your business, placed where they answer a question
How approval works

You see it before anyone else does.

Refresh work never happens on your live site. It happens on a staging copy, you look at it, and it goes live only when you say so.

  • We build the change on a staging copy of your site
  • You get a link to it in the request thread in your dashboard
  • You reply with changes, or approve it in the thread
  • We put it live, usually at a quiet time, and tell you it is done
  • Last night's backup is there if you ever want it back

Rounds of changes are normal and come out of the same hours. Small tweaks after launch, like swapping a photo or a line of text, are the kind of thing Boost and above handle without touching your hours.

What to prepare

Three things that make a refresh go faster.

None of them are required. All of them turn a two-round refresh into a one-round refresh.

Biggest difference

Photos

Real photos of your place, your team and your work, at full size straight from the phone or camera. Not screenshots, not images pulled from social media. We handle cropping, resizing and compression.

A few bullet points

Copy points

What you do, who it is for, what people ask before they buy, and what makes you the obvious choice. Rough notes are fine. We tighten the words; you make sure they are true.

Two or three links

How is a refresh different from a redesign?

A refresh reworks what you have: layout, spacing, photos, copy, mobile and speed, within your current brand and site structure. A redesign starts over with a new structure, new templates and often new branding. A refresh fits inside your monthly hours. A redesign is quoted separately with an estimate first.

Can I get a refresh on WP Shield?

WP Shield has no development hours, so refresh work on Shield is billed at $150 an hour with an estimate first. If you expect to want changes most months, WP Boost at $199 includes an hour each month and usually works out cheaper.

How long does a homepage refresh take?

Most homepage refreshes take two to four hours of development, plus your review time. On WP Pro that is one or two months of plan hours. On WP Scale it is done within the first month. If you want it faster than your hours allow, we quote the difference at $150 an hour.

Will my Google rankings be affected?

A refresh keeps your page addresses, titles and the content Google already ranks. Faster pages and a better phone experience tend to help. If we ever recommend merging or removing a page, we set up redirects first and tell you why.

Do you write the copy?

We tighten and reorganise what you give us and what is already on the site. We do not write copy from a blank page as part of a refresh. Send bullet points and we will turn them into clear lines in your voice, then you check that every fact is right.

What if I don't like the result?

Nothing goes live until you approve it in the dashboard thread, so you will not be surprised. Tell us what is off and we go another round. If you change your mind after launch, last night's backup restores the previous version.

Can you refresh pages other than the homepage?

Yes. After the homepage, the usual order is your main service or product pages, then contact and about. We look at which pages get the most visits and start there.

Do unused hours roll over?

No. Hours are there to be used each month, which is why a steady refresh is the best use of them. If you have a big month coming, tell us and we will plan the work so your hours line up with it.
